A Quiet Beach Shared With Turtles

The beach is the reason people come. It runs for a little over 3 km, a mix of sand and pebbles, with the mountains rising straight behind the village. The sea deepens only a few steps from the shore, so keep an eye on small children and weaker swimmers. Çıralı is also one of the loggerhead turtle nesting beaches of Turkey: a long-running study counted around a hundred nests a season in recent years. Expect a calm, unhurried place rather than a resort strip.

Olympos Ruins And The Chimaera Flames

At the southern end of the beach lie the ruins of ancient Olympos, which spread inland along the valley behind the shore. The Olympos valley pensions sit a short walk up from the ruins, so guests there have the ancient city on their doorstep and the sea beyond it. At the other end of Çıralı, on the hillside above the northern part of the village, are the Chimaera flames, known in Turkish as Yanartaş: small fires fed by natural gas that burn straight out of the rock. Some of the northern places to stay are only about a kilometre from them. The long-distance Lycian Way walking route also passes through this stretch of coast, which is why you will meet hikers here as well as beach-goers.

Pensions, Bungalows And Small Hotels

Everything here is small scale. At the southern end, Olympos Lodge stands on the beach close to the ruins, while Etenna Beach Bungalow sits on the sea further north. Kimera Lounge Hotel, Çıralı Hera Hotel, Perast Garden Hotel and Azur Hotel are all a few minutes on foot from the sand, and places such as Lukkies Lodge Çıralı and Canada Hotel & Bungalows sit further back among the gardens. In the Olympos valley, Bayrams Tree Houses, Olimpos Mercan Bungalow and Olympos Sheriff Bungalow are within walking distance of the ruins, and Koala Bungalows is on the Olympos road at Yazır. Many rooms are in garden bungalows or low buildings, and many places are family-run. If you like being near the water, check how far your hotel is from the beach, as distances here range from a few steps to over a kilometre.

Finding Your Way And Planning The Return

Çıralı belongs to Ulupınar in the Kemer district, while the Olympos valley pensions are at Yazır in the Kumluca district, and many addresses are just a house number on the main village road. That makes the exact hotel name the most useful thing to give us when you book. For your flight home, allow about 1 hour 35 minutes of driving to Antalya Airport, then add time for check-in. Adrasan bay is about 31 km away by road, roughly 45 minutes, if you want a change of scene. About An Hour And A Half From Antalya

Antalya Airport (AYT) is the airport for this stretch of coast. Çıralı is 96 km away by road, about 1 hour 35 minutes, and the pensions of the Olympos valley are 98 km away, about 1 hour 30 minutes. The route follows the D400 coastal highway south past Kemer, then leaves it for a side road of roughly 9 km that drops down to the sea; Çıralı and Olympos each have their own turn-off. Gazipaşa-Alanya Airport (GZP) is 258 km away, around 3 hours 35 minutes, so it is not a practical choice. Your driver waits in the arrivals hall holding a sign with your name, and the vehicle is yours alone, with no stops for other passengers. Flights are tracked, so a delayed landing simply moves the pickup. Because most places to stay here are small and spread out along the village road, you are driven to your own gate rather than dropped at a central point.
