A Long Beach Running Towards Side

Gündoğdu has a long beach that runs towards Side, and together with neighbouring Çolaklı it is known for wide hotel beaches and a large foreign guest base. Expect to hear many languages along the shore, and to find plenty of room to spread out. That does not mean every hotel is right on the beach. Some properties are 200–300 m back from the sea, so if a few steps from your room to the water matters to you, check a map rather than trusting the word seafront. A short walk is easy enough for most people, but it is worth knowing with toddlers or a lot of gear. For most guests, though, the attraction is simple: a broad stretch of shore at the western end of the Side coast.

Side Old Town, About 14 km Away

Gündoğdu is a beach-and-hotel village rather than a sightseeing base, and the nearest place with real history is Side old town, about 14 km east in a straight line. That is close enough for an evening among the ancient remains, with a taxi or an organised trip there and back. Between you and Side lie the neighbouring resort areas of Çolaklı, Evrenseki and Kumköy, each with its own stretch of shore. Çolaklı has a municipal public beach if you fancy a change, and in Kumköy a promenade with shops and restaurants runs all the way into Side centre, so you could ride as far as Kumköy and walk the rest. Manavgat, the district town, lies further east beyond Side, and Antalya city is in the other direction if you want a bigger day out.

Resorts At The Western End

Gündoğdu had 2,082 residents in 2022 and has many hotels, but the names attached to it vary between booking sites, so we keep this list short and certain. Side Star Resort is sold under Gündoğdu, and so is Ramada Resort by Wyndham Side, although the Ramada also gives an address in Kısalar and is marketed under Çolaklı too. If your voucher says Gündoğdu, Çolaklı or simply Side, any of them may be right; the hotel name is what counts for your transfer. The village suits travellers who put a short airport journey high on their list, families who want to reach the resort quickly after landing, and anyone happy to spend most of the holiday at the hotel and on the beach, with Side available for an occasional evening out.

Short Roads And Easy Departures

Gündoğdu sits by the D400 coastal highway, the road that links the whole coast, so getting to Side, about 14 km east as the crow flies, or back towards Antalya is straightforward. It is a small community despite its many hotels, so Side and Manavgat are where you go for town life. Departure day is the easy part: allow about 45 minutes of driving for the 52 km to Antalya Airport, then add your check-in time. Flying out from Gazipaşa is possible, but at 120 km it takes about 1 hour 45 minutes, so book an earlier pick-up. Free child seats are available on request, and the price is fixed when you book. If you are unsure whether your hotel counts as Gündoğdu or Çolaklı, simply send us its name; the driver needs nothing more.

The Quickest Side-Area Transfer

Of all the resort villages around Side, Gündoğdu is the nearest to Antalya Airport (AYT). The road distance is 52 km, and on the D400 coastal highway that is a drive of about 45 minutes, so you can be at your hotel not long after collecting your bags. Gazipaşa-Alanya Airport (GZP) is at the far end of the map for you: 120 km, or about 1 hour 45 minutes, which makes Antalya clearly the airport to choose. Your driver will be in arrivals with a name sign and takes only your party, with no shuttle-style stops at other hotels. Flights are tracked, so an early or delayed landing simply changes the pick-up time. Because some hotels here are also sold under the Çolaklı name, tell us the exact hotel when you book, and the driver will head straight for it.
